From Don Teske, Fun Company General Manager
Hi everyone,
MARCH MADNESS!! I know that is a basketball term and if you watched any of the tournament so far you know Wisconsin didn’t fair so well, but I meant the MARCH MADNESS statement from a business stand point, not the Basketball one.
The Wisconsin men may not have done so well, but on the business front Fun Company is heading for the big dance!
March has been GREAT! Thanks to you, our valued customers Fun Company had one of the BEST shows we have had in the 14+ years I have been here. The ASI show in Las Vegas was a small show in both size and number of attendees, however, the people that were there were very serious. In our tough economic times I suppose you have to be.
"What is new? What can I do to spark some interest in my route or location? What can I buy that isn’t so darn expensive? What has a quick ROI and will be a good piece with some legs”?
These are just some of the questions all of you are asking yourselves, and us. They are the right questions to be asking and asking them now is the right time.
I look at this way; if you can find a piece that will earn in a tough economy it will certainly be a great piece when things pick up and the tide turns.
From the orders we took at the show and have been taking since the show we think we have some answers for you:
New cabinets and pedestals!
Think about it. They are inexpensive, totally new look and revolutionary design. You can change the look of your route, FEC or game room with only a few new Fun Company units.
We showed our classic 26″ LCD cabinet and 2 styles of the FunGlo. (As many of you are finding out these are NOT just for the Incredible Technologies games)
For starters here is a bit of info on a couple of them.
The 26″ (and 32″) Classic upright cabinet with LCD monitor has been upgraded. The major changes on them are that we have gone away from the full one piece acrylic front that covered the control panel, LCD display and marquee and have gone to tempered glass over the LCD display and marquee and to a non-glare lexan on the control panel. In addition we have made the control panel open toward the front to make it easier for you to work on the controls (trackball, buttons, joysticks etc.). YOU SPOKE AND WE LISTENED! We had many compliments on these changes and when you get your new version I am sure you will be pleased. When ordering please be sure to mention to your sales person you want the improved glass version, we are still selling the other style for home use and getting rid of the stock that was already on the floor.
The FunGlo pedestal was shown in two styles Green with a Golden Tee 09’ Unplugged kit installed and a blue version with the NEW SEGA Bass Fishing game installed. The Bass Fishing was a big hit and we even had the SEGA logo and a fish laser engraved into the plexi to further enhance the look; and to show you that that feature is available, If you are looking at customizing your cabinet for your route or that certain good location. If this is a feature you are interested in ask your sales rep and they can give you more details on it. Since the show we have done some new versions of the FunGlo as well, we have done a red version with Global Arcade Classics kit installed, a Blue and Chrome (diamond plate) version for both Kit ready and a fighting game so be sure to take a look at the different styles on the website.
We still have our other cabinets as well the 32″ showcase has had a resurgence in the past few weeks and we have been selling many of the FunGlo units WITH the monitor stand which comes with the monitor bracket so you have a complete set up. We had our 42″ LCD display on both the units in our booth and they looked great.
Well enough about that side of the business; we are still building our complete line of 8-line/poker style units and we even have some new versions of them as well. Two of them that are looking like they are going to be good sellers are the "Tallboy" and "Fatboy" cabinets.
The "Tallboy" is our standard Slimline cabinet with the 19" LCD display mounted higher so it is in the same proximity as the old CRT style monitor was, again this change was prompted from requests from you the operators and comments you were getting from your players. If it keeps them at the game longer then it is a good thing, right?
The "Fatboy" is a slimline cabinet with a 26″ LCD display in it. That’s right a 26″ LCD! We had operators from New York and Wisconsin asking about this and we built it. They liked it and the players must too as we are shipping them out now as well. (I don’t want to say anything about the eyes or the age of the players but maybe they need the bigger display for a reason, hee hee).
There is also some new game boards out that I want to mention and encourage you to take a look at:
Bounty Hunter (20 line VGA, touchscreen and button operable)
Bandits (9 or 25 line, VGA, similar to Captain Jack but with a western theme, touchscreen and button operable)
Beanstalk (15 Line VGA, with the Jack and the beanstalk theme, looks like it will be a good earner)
And more… GO CHECK THEM OUT!
Remember if you have an idea or comment about one of our products give us a call at 800-808-5554 and ask for Becky, Dan, Sara or myself and we will be glad to help you out. If you have a technical question ask for Steve "Ziggy” Ziegler. He’s a repair genius and can repair just about any game, pcb board, bill acceptor or monitor.
We are sending out an early invite to each and everyone of you for the first ever:
